CUTLASS - First in Cross Channel Entertainment

SCOURGE - You might already be playing.

Any location can now be used for a reality-based theme park adventure. Scourge, CUTLASS’ second cross-channel application, gave players previews of this new experience at the IWW in New York last week. Scourge turned the Javit’s Convention Center into an adventure zone with IR, SMS, server sound files, and 3-D rangefinding, using an easy interface delivering the game to wireless PDAs, RIM and all WAP cell phones. In the fall, Ericsson’s MPS technology will notify players automatically whenever they’ve entered one of CUTLASS’ adventure zones.

Scourge also allowed players to create their own adventures and to control the game. Players challenged others to find them hidden in a huge, moving crowd, documented the presence of rivals lurking outside, as well as answered time-based clues provided by CUTLASS.

CUTLASS was founded in August 2000 to focus on linking the virtual and real world through a variety of interactive multimedia channels. "The response to CUTLASS has been overwhelmingly positive," said CEO Steve Bull. A recognized innovator in the digital communications field with Paul Allen’s Interval Research, Bull worked for CBS, ABC, PBS, and Japanese TV prior to founding CUTLASS.
